Ontario has great incentives for businesses looking to become more energy efficient by providing.
Businesses usually have to invest upfront capital to become more energy efficient, which can add up, depending on the project size.
Luckily for businesses in Ontario, the Save On Energy program can help businesses offset these costs and become more energy efficient without much outlay while receiving high savings and quicker return on investment.
The Save ON Energy program has been developed to help businesses recover the cost of installing high efficiency LED bulbs.
LED bulbs have proven to be far more efficient at consuming energy than their fluorescent predecessors.

The program is designed to provide a variety of options to help you find the right solution for your business. Currently, there are two types of project applications under the Retrofit Program.
1. Prescriptive track
Prescriptive track applications are ideal for quick system upgrades. Incentive levels are based on a predefined amount with applications that are easy to follow and have a fast turnaround.
To participate, your project must be pre-approved. Small projects must be worth a minimum prescriptive incentive of $100.
Retrofit incentives are available to owners or lessees* of:
- Commercial spaces or buildings, such as offices, retail and grocery stores, restaurants, hotels and warehouses
- Industrial facilities in sectors, such as food and beverage, automotive, plastics and packaging industries
- Institutional buildings, including hospitals, universities, municipal halls and arenas
- Multi-family buildings, such as apartments (including low-income and social housing) or condominiums
- Agricultural facilities, including dairy, swine or poultry farms, greenhouses and nurseries
*If you lease, you must have the owner’s consent or authorization.
2. Custom track
Custom track applications are designed to provide flexibility for more comprehensive projects with opportunities for increased energy savings. Incentives are based on energy savings over pre-project baselines. All custom track incentives are capped at 50 per cent of project cost.

*Other measures include lighting controls, rooftop units (RTU), unitary air conditioning and refrigeration.
To participate, your project must be pre-approved. For the custom track application, your project must have an estimated demand reduction of 1 kW or first-year annual energy savings of 2,000 kWh.
Projects must deliver energy savings for at least 48 months.
